Thomas For anyone interested in learning about the silly things Mormons believe, look no
further than this book. The reason that Mark Hoffman, the con artist,
was able to thrive, is largely due to the con artist of all time, Joseph Smith, Jr. Both men dabbled. Both men lived lives full of deceit & the pursuit of money & the belief that their religious beliefs entitled them to earthly prosperity set up the structure that engulfed their lives in a seeming endless pursuit of that wealth. My opinion remains that the murder of Joseph Smith remains one of the biggest mistakes that was made in American religious history. Had Smith been allowed to live out his days, Mark Hoffman would not have had the context of the Mormon Church to implement his life of fraud & forgery. At some point, the Vault of the President of the Mormon Church will be opened by default or demand & the deceits will be made public. But ignorance being blissful, it is clear the fringe will continue with polygamy & worship of non-existent beings & some will remain, believing themselves to be the gods that their system of belief encourages them to continue as if this were a fact. To end: What is forever? What does endless mean? These questions cannot be fully answered by anyone on a definitive level. Ambiguity drives most religions. However, it seems to me that ambiguity, rather than history wins & Momon leadership plays this hand for all it is worth. Mormons need to summon the strength & courage to walk away from this spiritual & ethical morass. This can only be forthcoming by embracing the Truth & putting the silliness behind them. It won't be easy, but that is key to seeking freedom from this sticky mess. Otherwise, Mormons are seeking that which was taken by Joseph Smith, adulterated & no amount of revelations can turn a sow's ear into a silk purse.
