Alexander sat up staring; Hephaistion was jolted into taking his hand away. 'Without you? What do you mean, how could you even think of it? You're my dearest friend.'

Mika That's next on my reading list :) I really feel like reading Historical Fiction these days, and I love Alexander!
How is it so far?

Kat Marwa, it's not too late to join in! 0_o

I'm currently reading The Song of Achilles and I'm busy so I can't do a buddy read.
So I will stalk you both silently to see what you think :D

Kat Oh noes. The Song of Achilles is here to haunt me. I never managed to finish it and I'm embarrassed about it. I hope you'll fare better!:) And who knows, maybe your review will give me a bit of a nudge to give it another go again.

Mika I can definitely see why it would take long to finish, it is slow-paces so far and I usually don't like that, but I guess I'm just in the mood. And the writing. So beautiful with such a focus on sensual experiences.
It is like Laini Taylor's but unlike her it isn't overly descriptive.
I definitely hope you will give it another go. :)

Diana Oh, come on! It took me two days to read The Song of Achilles and I'm not a patient person :P

I'm glad you're in the mood for this book, Marwa! I can't wait to see your rating and/or review :)

Katinka, you're breaking my heart. I hope you'll give it one more chance soon.

And Fire From Heaven is okay, it's beautifully written, but not very gripping.

Kat Rub it it, why don't you! ;)

Oh man, I completely agree with you there. On one hand, it's lovely written, but I need to remind myself not to skim, especially over all those names. And I'm not good with children.:o) I'm not sure how old he is when this book ends? I hope a lot of ground gets covered and he doesn't end up being 14 by the end of this book, lol.

Sorry :D

Same here, but it's Alexander, so it's not so bad. I can't get into the book, though. I hope I won't abandon it...

Kat We have set ourself a time frame of 2 months, we'll manage...hopefully! The thing is that I can't abandon a classic like this. It just won't do *grinds teeth*. Luckily it's not bad, just not very engaging..

Exactly! But yeah, we have to finish it. I mean, I did manage to read The Persian Boy, so... :P
