Reading a William Gibson novel is like pushing a boulder over a slowly declining slope. At the beginning, when the ground is completely flat, it's just work. But the further you get, the more things get moving until finally the boulder is plummeting at terminal velocity to the bottom. When you finally hit, you're so dazed you'd be hard pressed to really say what just happened, but you know it was one heck of a ride.
