'Luke was fussing, manlike.' love that

Abduction as a romance plot device always makes me angry, sometimes in a good way, but this one bothers me differently than usual - Luke is explicitly working for the govt in a capacity tht as far as I can tell is meant to be morally neutral or good, & he's made this unilateral decision - I mean from an American perspective, private security companies doing shady-to-outright-evil acts for our govt is v real

The fact that the hero apparently "cut his teeth in Northern Ireland" (as an English army officer)...does not bode well. It's not like I didn't already know that Penny Jordan was conservative but woof!
