—“They chained me in the dark because I could not tell them of my commander’s orders.”
—She couldn’t understand why the MacEgans would do such a thing. It made no sense at all, for Raine had done nothing wrong.
….THEY’RE AT WAR, YOU STUPID WOMAN. It makes every sense that they’d secure an enemy soldier, esp when the local king is in residence! >_______<

This author has a kink for consent. She really enjoys harping on it. The heroes are quick to state & restate & restate ad nauseam how the heroines are safe from anything they don’t want to happen…which also means there’s nothing the least bit uncertain for the audience. It’s a veritable orgy of safety. 🙄

‘Not only was she the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen, but she had awakened a protective instinct w/in him. He wanted to guard her innocence, to see those sky blue eyes look upon him w/ gratefulness. She was unable to defend herself, & he wanted to slaughter any man who dared to threaten her.’ ….Steady on, bro. *checks page count* Your instalove makes my head hurt.

'Mercenary, some called him. A heartless murderer, the Irish would say. His soul was already damned, according to the priests, & he regretted nothing. As long as his sisters were alive & whole, none of it mattered.' ....Hot. I love a taciturn, battle-scarred warrior. :D Raine seems like a cross between Sandor Clegane & Gawain from KNIGHTFALL.
