So this is completely a personal preference, but I'm tired of reading books that describe in detail a vulnerable young girl being sexually coerced, abused or assaulted. So that's red flag number one for me. If this book continues to make the main character's relationship to this pedophile bootlegger the main focus of the narrative I'm probably going to quit reading it.
