Enclosure represents “imposition of a political geography over an ecological geography”. -Daniel Botkin. Conservation is always linked to control, even by modern NGOs. Landscapes & resources are wrested from locals (and their systems of livelihood) by class, gender, & ethnicity. E.g. Yellowstone was managed by the US military until 1916 and many native tribe users placed on reservations prior to its opening.

A good intro book with recent basic ecological examples along with the underlying power dynamics. It briefly connects various lenses like marxism, post colonialism, feminism, post structuralism, and others.
