I'm reading too many books at the moment (The Divorce Papers, Steve Jobs, and this one), and as good as all three are, this detective novel has me captivated. I agree with criticisms that it feels plodding at times, and I might think that some of the descriptions (especially of people) are pleonastic, but overall it's an engaging, visual crime-mystery story that I'm prioritizing over too many other things.
