I don't love Eddie the Cat, and he's really getting on my nerves this chapter. Is he trying to send a message to our main character about her new boyfriend? (My bet is still on the vaguely familiar-looking guy who got mad that she skipped in line at the bakery.) Maybe the cat just likes ripping up bouquets of flowers. All I know is that I'm not expecting Eddie to solve the mystery for us at this rate.

The writing style is overly-detailed to the point of abusing commas and the main character [annoyingly] can't see her own worth.
But Cat with a Clue is genuinely entertaining, even if it's bad-good. I like the large cast of supporting characters (especially Pam, owner of "Older Than Dirt") and I'm curious about the murder-mystery.
*Bonus points for a respectful interaction with a gender-neutral character in Ch. 5.
