DeLillo writes the absolute best sentences, the pages are still bursting with his trademark cadence 700 pages in. I got bogged down somewhere in the middle and he is guilty of doing 'too much', but I'm enjoying this as a maximally DeLillo reading experience.

Delillo on Underworld: "It's some pretty complicated stuff: 800 pages, more than 100 different characters—who's going to be interested in that?"

I did finally lose track of the characters in the last chapter but I think I am back in the loop in Part 3. In contrast to some of the less favorable reviews, I find every page to be brimming with ideas and insight and interesting turns of phrase. Worth the effort so far...
