I have literally never connected Saul-who-becomes-Paul with OT Saul. I knew both Josephs!

I knew the result of breaking a covenant was death. I forgot that this covenant had other curses built into it from the beginning. That makes it rather more contract-like, actually.

I don't think I've ever heard of this Israel/human, Gentile/beast symbolism before. I'm not sure how I feel about that (both the symbolism and that I've never heard of it before).

A century and a half? I hadn't realized it was that long. No wonder the Judeans got so snooty about their kingdom never falling because they had the Temple.
