How are you liking this one? I really don't get the hype around Sarah J Maas. Maybe I haven't read the right book written by her yet.

This is my first read by her. I like it. I am halfway in. I'm feeling the Prince...Dorian. He is sardonic and arrogant. So far he is my favorite. You know I like complex characters. Caelena is a badass assassin. Love a female badass. Some of the supernatural is making it's way into the story now. Fantasy, war and I can tell some romance brewing. It's a chunker. Took a breather this morning with a quick anthology. You know how we hop around books. Mood readers and all lol

Which ones have you read by her that you weren't impressed with?

I have read A court of Thorns and Roses. It wasn't what I was expecting. I started to read House of Earth and Blood to see what the fuss was about but I'm still at 10% 🙈

I like character-driven stories and this one sounds like something I would like. Maybe I should give it a go. Yeah, we are the same ;) I always throw in a short story or a quick anthology to take a breather lol

Exactly. Now I wouldn't say it was OMG soooo good. But I liked it. I loved a lot of the quotes. I loved the banter between the characters and the fact Caelena the MC was a badass fighter. The best was towards the end. Would of liked to have more battle scenes but it is only the first book.

I have a court of Thorns and Rose's on my shelf too. I haven't picked it up. Been sitting there over a year just like this one was. You know how we do lol
