maybe it's just me and my inability to engage but there is just something SO incredibly vapid about words like justice, liberation, freedom, human rights, bla bla so on and so forth. what is this layer of vapidity made of? where does it come from?

it is interesting how the accounts of doting parents, like that of Kristeva's, usually lack any complex descriptions of the parents' personalities. they're interesting people, sure, but there's hardly any ego-centric complexity of character to be seen. to love someone in a way that that person becomes literally incapable of envy or jealousy, how decreated/decentred does a person have to be to do that?

Yes it's a superficial book I agree. She isn't going into the depth of her thought... I got more the sense that she loves Kristeva and this was just a tribute.
