Definitely not a general introduction to chemistry book as you have to have a pretty hefty prior knowledge of basic chemical principles, but it is an excellent introduction to expert level, quantum mechanical information. Pauling is very direct and to the point and tells it like it is without much explanation of the why beyond a little further elaboration of the chemical structure.
