Dave Is there a new book page? I don’t know if I had noticed. I rarely browse on Goodreads. I just come here to document what I have read and bother people with trivia.

You're hilarious!!!! I'm surely the last one to notice it because I'm not here enough but it's CRAZY. I can't find anything, what the heck happened to titles and series...even the editions are hard to distinguish...

Uh…I’ll take it. I can see how my remark could definitely fit within my typical sarcasm. But…I’ll take it. Everyone likes to think they are funny.

Did you see what Goodreads has begun doing with Marvel and Image comic titles? (DC seems to be immune.)

Who knows why Goodreads does what it does?

1. The “safety” policy that inhibits external hyperlinks.
2. The revised book pages.
3. Using subtitles for comic titles instead of the series title like every other website that sells/advertises/collects comics.

There was no sarcasm, it was funny! You certainly don't come here only for trivia!!

I'm sure that somebody is campaigning about this already, but I'm baffled. No, I don't know the specifics for Marvel and Image, but what I looked up so far...I felt dumb, like my mother must feel when she asks for our help...also, why change a system that works and rules that are canon everywhere else? Mah...

No. No trivia. Much better venues for trivia and stoopid stuff on the world wide web.

I mainly come here to document what I read.

Sometimes, I post stupid stuff on others’ reviews (unsuccessfully) trying to be funny. Even more rarely, I get passionate about a creator and defend them with all two of my wits. I’m often defending Lemire or BKV.

Many comics readers are campaigning to have the comic titles changed back. I have submitted more than a couple of dozen ‘Help’ requests and joined the Librarian Group discussion to provide my opinion.

I don’t even need Goodreads to change back. I would just like a lucid reason for what they are doing besides the oft repeated “We are special. We can do what we want.” People either employed by or volunteering for a website dedicated to books can do better than that bit of non-thinking.

The below captures exactly what I feel about Goodreads’ responses to this point:

I don't know what to say...the gif is so funny I can't stop looking at it...that bad, ah?

No, that doesn't seem an unacceptable answer to anything in general and to this issue in particular. I can only approve of the campaign and you helping with it. Hopes for an actual change...how realistic are those?

Both Lemire and BKV are authors dear to your heart, as long as the discussions don't make you bitter or drain too much of your energy, it's perfectly normal you feel the need to engage

Billy Madison..

That quote is used often at work. We are all dumber for having listened to that. Some people would seem so much more intelligent if they remained silent.

Yes, that bad.

I think the volunteers sre being forced to repeat the party line. I feel bad for them.

No real hope. The staff Librarians have all of the power and none of the sense. I think egos are involved which never goes well.

Never bitter. Being contentious does drain energy. And I think I have offended people without really intending to. 😢

wow...the difference in what is considered acceptable in a workplace...we would never use such a comment even if privately thinking it, it's pretty brutal...not that I don't understand it.

:-( that's just depressing...was GR always like this and I never noticed before?

Oh dear...if that really happened, I hope you can find a way to clarify the misunderstandings with those people. You need your energy for better things, I'm sure you are mindful of it.

Not sure it’s acceptable. I am on my fourth round of sensitivity training. It doesn’t stick. 😢

I don’t know about Goodreads. I arrived late and took a leave of absence for a while. I mostly stay in my own corner.

I don’t know about clarifying, RedL. I was joking, but it was a bit much. I am learning that people come and go on social media. Very transitory.

I didn't know, I'm sorry. Do you think there's anything worthy on those trainings or it's just a waste of time?

Also, I assumed it was not just you to use such a comment but people in general, like a really on-your-face team? I wasn't calling you out...

That is also quite true. As long as you're not worrying too much about it then. The worthy to keep stick around, I guess :)

If one is sensitive, then they are very helpful.

No, not just me. Most of us are ruthless. 😥

I did not worry too much about it. I made no ad hominem statement. I made more fun of myself than anyone else. But the underlying message was well understood. I actually respect that person (or what I know of them) a lot.
