9-21. Pg131. We were busier at work than I was hoping for; didn’t get to read much. Usually when I reread a book I remember some moments but the only thing I remembered was the last line of this page between her & the hero. All this has felt like a new book to me so I’m curious to see what’s going to happen & how this will end. I hope things end well in the next scene, but of course this doesn’t end in a HEA anyway…

I didn’t remember this having quite so tragic an ending. I remembered things differently…Since the characters were fictitious, why not give the heroine as much of an HEA as possible? I hate how she chose to conclude the book. So unnecessary. The book needed dates: I knew when the eruption happened but never knew what day it was in here. So glad to finally be done with this. It ended up being dragged out so long.

9-22. Pg139. I like the info on the gladiators. Feels like the end is about to happen…😧 I didn’t even finish this scene, had a rushed morning & plans later. I’m wanting to be done with this.

9-20. Pg115. I like all the historical details and learning about life then. Foreshadowing the volcanic eruption is sad. Can’t wait to see how this turns out! Plot is picking up. Gladiator fight/Sura’s freedom, Julia sent to a cult. The wedding. Her and her cousin’s feelings for each other. They do need more page time though…Got quite a bit of reading done today at work!

9-16. Pg68. Finally made some real progress. The foreshadowing of the volcano!! 😧 I like the story being flip flopped: the slave is the beautiful one and the wealthy heroine has the disfigurement.
