We're going to be moving house (temporarily but totally), which is something I haven't done for over 17 years now. I can *definitely* make up for all those years of disorganisation, hoarding & messiness in a couple of weeks, right? RIGHT? (3 books on those very topics came to light in the first few days of book packing. Gotta <3 irony!)

Sherwood wrote: "Oh, lord--major sympathy!!!"I can get a redo on all the POOR CHOICES made over the last few decades, can't I? Not *life* ones, of course, but just the ones like "I think I'll read instead of cleaning now". :)
Melissa wrote: "I feel for you, but I'm so excited that you can make the change!"The thought of having a radiator that works in my bedroom is becoming more appealing by the day. :) (Don't think I mentioned that to you along the way - radiator started leaking and I'd just had another one replaced so decided to turn it off instead of getting a new one installed, as it's fairly expensive. I was sure we'd be out before the winter, but that was something like two years ago, so you can see how smart that thought was!)
Katie wrote: "Ahh, good luck!"Thanks! Are you totally shocked that I'D RATHER JUST TALK ABOUT BOOKS WITH YOU GUYS? Not so much??

Leaky cardboard.

Is it weird I'm a little jealous? Because, oh, my own mess is too much to think about and I'm certainly not motivated to DEAL with it.

I can see where you get this idea, but the house is actually made out of good granite, taken from the quarry just up the road, some 140-ish years ago! :) I've seen the walls with my own eyes, when I TRIED to get the damp problem fixed just after we'd moved in.
Dorian wrote: "Ugh, horrors!"Right?! But that reminds me; I've books for you around the place, and wondered if you'd like the volume of L. M. Montgomery's journals I have. Didn't you borrow that one time? I can keep it in one of the boxes of books we'll actually unpack in the place we're leasing if so!

You're better than I am, then! I still have around twenty huge boxes of books stored in the garage from the time we moved around five years ago, still unpacked, and I have bookcases and lots of other books all over the house in no order at all. I haven't got rid of any books in all that time and it's too hard to do any major organising because of health issues. Our place is a huge mess so I pretty much understand your pain! Hmm...I think I can see a messiness competition coming on here! :-)
After moving and accompanying culling/reorganising is over, though, the feeling can be wonderful! :-)
Beth: I've missed being around! I'm going to try to PACK ALL THE THINGS! *and* read and review and discuss ALL THE BOOKS and keep Christmas WELL and... That'll work, right?Brandy: It is. However, you've reminded me that this move will be FAR from my worst move (that would have been post-divorce), and that's going to be my daily reminder to myself!
Ros: Hahahaha - a messiness competition sounds like one game at which I could excel. :) But yes, being surrounded by only things I really want, which are clean and organised - that sounds wonderful. Improbable, but maybe juuuuuust possible!

Um...I think I might have...I've a notion I didn't really like it much. So thanks but no thanks, I think. :-)
Incidentally, I've found assorted books in my collection that I rather think are yours if everyone had their own. I'm guessing you don't want them back very immediately...? (No, I can't give you titles offhand; when I say found, I don't mean I can actually lay my hands on them right now! But one of these days when I resort the piles I will actually separate out the books that do not belong to me.)

That all sounds good! You're absolutely correct that I do not want anything back immediately. But we'll be even closer to the DART when we move, which will doubtless be the tipping factor to get you our here. ;)
