In the third book on Alex Rider, he gets approached by an old friend from MI6 while practicing soccer. Annoyed he shouts, "I told you I'm not interested in MI6 anymore. I'm a schoolboy, not a spy" (Horowitz 6). This continues his ongoing theme from the second book of declining the offer to help the MI6 even though he ends up helping anyway. Based on this I can only assume he will get dragged into helping again.

"The book is really good at coming up with weird and wacky twists and running with it for a while so it takes effect. Sarov being the main villain, he will talk about "[deciding] to arrange that accident" during a flight to the airport (Horowitz). Usually, that would freaky me out more but with there being a ton of them you sort of expect the unexpected."
