The final dialog in the book from the doctor, the narrator, really confused me. It's about what happened in the vault right before the gravedigger escaped. The doctor said, "The skull turned my stomach, but the other was worse-those ankles cut neatly off to fit Matt Fenner's cast-aside coffin" (Lovecraft 7). I know the ankles were cut but they weren't cut off.
