One key part in the story was when it was announces that two tributes from the same district could win because Katniss could partner up with Peeta to make a strong team. Also, she'd have a mentally difficult time killing Peeta if she had to. "Before I can stop myself, I call out Peeta's name". This proved Katniss's excitement and eagerness to find Peeta. These details show that the book was altered tremendously.

When it was announced that there could no longer be two victors, and that Katniss would have to fight Peeta to the death it was extremely nerve-racking. I was scared that one of my favorite characters might die, and I wouldn't get the happy ending that I was hoping for. As I read the words "only one winner may be allowed" my heart dropped in fear. This proves that the potential plot twist in the story was alarming.

It was important when Thresh sacrificed Katniss's life because he did't want to owe her for honoring Rue; it reflected on Katniss's relationship with Peeta and the fact that she still owes him for giving her bread as children. Katniss says "It's like the bread. How I never seem to get over owing you for that."(293) This shows that Katniss's reluctance to owe Peeta resembles Thresh saving Katniss for helping Rue.

By being a traitor, Peeta showed that he was perfidious. He betrayed Katniss by teaming up with the Career pack and helping plan to kill her. The quote that revealed that Peeta teamed up with the careers: "The voice belongs to Peeta."(160) had me completely flabbergasted and filled my mind with hatred towards Peeta. It showed me that Peeta is a horrible person and a complete manipulator.

I was flabbergasted when Katniss scored an eleven. After feeling like a roasted pig was being prioritized over her, Katniss shot an arrow through the pig's mouth, completely disrespecting the Gamemakers. However, the Gamemakers still gave her an incredibly high score. They, apparently, were more likely to "make your life a living hell in the arena."(107) This shows that the Gamemakers actually liked Katniss's temper.

One trait to describe the main character of the Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen, is daring. This is shown when she asks to enter the Hunger Games in order to take her sister's place. "I volunteer as tribute"(22) she courageously says to the mayor. Her heroic deeds show how brave she really is.
