Finally did the chapters I've been needing to do for like a month (sorry Lucy) and honestly Helene is my new fav character and the chemistry between her and Harper is amazing. He brings out her humanity and I love it. She is also handling the war sooo well like #queen. Laia is now my least favorite character...like her blow up at her brother was so wrong and unnecessary and then like OMG I NEED TO ESCAPE. SHUT UP.

i was literally going to write this update about how absolutely amazing Helene’s chapter was but then last sentence of her chapter like murdered it all.

i’m absolutely murdered dead by the end of elias chapter. like wtf was that. my hopes were so high and now i’m crying?

Helene is so cool like i love her so much. that fact that her inner monologue at one point was her thinking about the commandant and she just goes “hag” and like continues. i love it.

the tension between hel and harper is unbearable i can’t. also like ok laia i get that they are your people and all but stop being dumb. i rly which elias payed more attention when shaeva was still alive

Helene’s character development is literally one of the best parts of this book so far. like you hate her and then you love her!!!! and honestly oh em gee what is going on and what the heck is elias going to do?!!!

eek! there’s already so much going on and i love how they’re kind of giving the nightbringer this sort of depth that like makes you momentarily sad for him. also that fact that helene’s chapters are now called Blood Shrike JUST SHOWS her transformation. like girly is no longer helene.
