Hector kills Patroclus (Achilles' BFF), Achilles finally stops sulking and clogs a river with Trojan corpses, then kills Hector. Then the Greeks put the war on hold while they have an elaborate funeral, complete with dangerous sporting events in which the Greek soldiers compete for prizes given out by Achilles. Luckily for them, the Trojans are too scared to attack them while they're distracted.

Now everyone is murdering each other, in astonishing detail, over the bodies of their dead friends. Literally and figuratively. And there's still 100+ pages to go...

Lots of very detailed recounting of who threw a javelin through whose liver/brain/bladder/etc. Also at least a page of two guys reminiscing together in the middle of a battle, and then telling each other they should really get back to fighting before someone sees them, lol.

Ye gods... Achilles is a petulant brat, and Paris is not much better (and probably worse, considering he started the whole thing).
