- Is it completely wrong of me to find that statement hilarious when said meeting included their mother, a courtesan who had a child with each of her noble protectors???

This isn't a deal breaker for me, but I find it rather eye roll worthy that the heroine can hear a voice once and can mimic it perfectly.

LOL. It is very ironic, but I can see why. The courtesan's supposed to be the hoity toity high class doxy, LOL. She would never mingle with one from the street.

I don't think he (the brother) thought she was an actual prostitute. I think he was just using it as a scornful term for someone his brother hooked up with.
But either way, I just find it kind of baffling and hilarious. The lot of you are bastards from different daddies and your mom is a prostitute. And you're ticked your brother brought his hookup???
That IS funny, Catherine. Are you liking the book any better now that you are further into it?
No. :( I'm not angry or pissed, I just don't care. There's no depth or motivation for any of the events or attraction between the h/h. Basically, the book is leaving me cold.
Are you going to finish or are you bailing?
I'll finish it most likely. It's rare when I dislike a book enough not to.
LOL! In that case, they are definitely pot and kettle.
Hope you do finish it and wish I could say that it gets better, but honestly it doesn't sound like it will.
