"Our nation's limited, two-party system, blue-versus-red conversation makes it hard to live in the many shades of purple where most of us reside." When I registered to vote at 18 I selected Independent as my party. I have never believed our country will be successful with a two-party-dominate government. As recent years have shown, all we do is flip flop back and forth rather than making change or moving forward.

Really enjoyed chapter 3 - not so much new info for me, but it's info I think about often and that other people need to be aware of. I like that she mentioned thinking about the literal land you are on. When I hike in Shelby Forest I often imagine the indigenous people who walked there, the slaves who might have sought escape through those trees, and the settlers who made their way west.

Some interesting points being made as she lays the groundwork. I can tell this won't be an easy read. I need to stop picking non-fiction books that fall into that category. But like The Body Keeps ..., I'm sure it will be worth tackling the topic. I am glad that chapters have subtopics or it would be much harder to make myself read a full chapter.
