The self-professed philosophical background of one of the authors is clear, yet clearly hidden under his further sociological training. Although valuable remarks are made, most are cloistered in the sociological domain, the domain of social sciences at most. Had he remained more philosophical, the value would have been potentially universal.

I guess that’s my challenge, then.

I can’t help it.

This book has the irrefutable smell of a secondary, or even further down the chain, book. It’s clearly not dealing with fundamental topics.

But that is exactly where it is valuable to me. It’s contrast aids me in sharpening the ‘object’ I’m studying.

Although not directly applicable to my thesis, it is of value in reading how the social sciences as based on data research attempt to reconcile contradictory movements in a method.

I, however, would never say that I am researching data.
