I had to set this aside a bit--it was getting a little dry. Science writing definitely doesn't scare me--I consider myself a science writer. However, she really needed a table at the end explaining/converting radiation measurements. Instead she continually tries to do so in the text . I hope it picks up soon b/c the rest of it is interesting.

I've had this on my Amazon list for 2 years. Found out a month ago that my dad had actually bought it when it came out in '05. Coincidence, or like father, like daughter? Just borrowed it b/c it's very timely. :( Already mesmerized by haunting images of the abandoned town--a town that never left the Cold War Era. Literary references, ecology & very easy chemistry. Brought me back to being a child of the Cold War era.
