Chapter 18, so happy to have been sent this in epub form, I find this so much more compelling than I expected. A forgotten lore kind of coming of age story, with forbidden gift, and knowledge. Highly recommend to lovers of high fantasy.

I went into this knowing only that it was a fantasy. I am beginning chapter 6, so far I will tell you what I know. Main character - a young blacksmith apprentice with a drunken overbearing father. Devoted mother , but dad rules the home. His sister Alyse doesn't have but a small role to this point. Rsirin has gifts he must hide. Gift that his father has been warned against. As punishment sent to the mines
