A brilliant story, but I cannot make sense of how the author, so conscious of her status as a refugee and so intent on highlighting the importance of asylum, is now a member of the Conservative Party: the very same party that is actively trying to criminalise her experience. The cognitive dissonance is astounding. She joins the bizarre list of North Korean defectors who have fallen prey of right-wing ideals.
