Favourite so far is “Without” by Donald Hall, which is heart wrenching, beautiful, and one of the most clever pieces of poetry I’ve ever read.
Other faves:
“Do Not Pick Up The Telephone” by Ted Hughes is a masterpiece in simile & metaphor.
“Ever” by Brenda Shaughnessy haunts me. I can’t describe it.
“No More”by Mary Jo Bang has a final stanza that cuts right through me.
