A sad part was when the Peacekeepers beat Cinna. The Peacekeepers came into the room where Katniss was about to enter the games and started beating up Cinna. Pg263 "The Peacekeepers ignore me completely as they drag Cinna's limp body from the room. All that's left are the smears of blood on the floor." This shows how the Peacekeepers don't care about the people and will beat or kill them in front of anyone.

One surprising part was when Finnick said he could carry mags. Poisonous fog was coming toward them and Finnick told Mags he couldn't carry her and could only carry Peeta. "I'm sorry Mags, I can't do it"(P.301). It surprised me that Finnick saved Peeta not Mags who was his mentor for the game,he won. Katniss must really find a way to repay Finnick for that before she might need to kill him.

One sad part was when Pres. Snow read out the 3rd Quarter Quell.He stated that each district must send one male and one female from each of the previous years' victors to compete against each other again in the games.P. 172 states "the male and female tributes will be reaped from their existing pool of victors". As she hears this, Katniss realizes she must now compete again and kill Peeta in order to save herself.

An important part was when Pres. Snow told Katniss she caused an uprising and will kill her and her loved ones if she doesn't make it right. Her act of defiance with no consequences is causing others to question authority as well. On p. 23, he states "you have provided a spark that...may grow to an inferno that destroys Panem". This shows that one's persons actions, even a small one, may lead to bigger problems.
