After reading In the Cart (Chekhov), my thoughts were: oh boy, here be a bunch of lame Russian short stories with incredibly awake, fascinating commentary afterward. But each one has been steadily better— I actually liked The Darling, and Master and Man floored me. I highly recommend this book for any writer!
