Miss Anne is how Black people referred to the White women in Harlem. Here's my problem: it opens a new world for me in Black History when among other types The Yankee Schoolmarm came to the South to teach freed slaves. The dilemma is I don't like her writing--not all the time but so often it sounds like Women's Studies and not straight-up history. Then I think that I have a bias. I should work on my own bias first.
