As Moore tells the reader how he was shut off from the world and it's events he writes, "In our time it seems necessary and responsible to know what is happening everywhere in the world. A modern anxiety." (Moore 94).This quote interests me because its so true, people have burdened themselves nowadays with the anxiety of knowing whats going on all over the world when in reality we aren't supposed to know these things

I find it interesting when Moore writes, "We average persons may need daily withdrawal in order to be more fully participants in community, family, and society. Pull up the cowl, eat in silence, read to be absorbed, pray without intent, chant" (Moore 78). This quote is very true, without daily withdrawal many people lose sight of how to live a well-rounded and balanced life.

I find it interesting when Moore writes, "Silence allows many sounds to reach the awareness that otherwise would go unheard - the sounds of birds, water, wind, trees, and frogs, as well as conscience, daydreams, intuitions, and wishes" (Moore 68). This quote shows the power of silence and how impactful it can be in life. I am very intrigued by this quote as it makes me want to meditate more.

I find it interesting that Thomas Moore writes, "Without knowing nature we cannot know who we are or what we are to do. Nature shapes us as much as we shape nature, and in that mutual engagement is the fulfillment of both" (Moore 65). This statement holds so much truth and shows that nature is such a big part of life that controls many aspects of people's life, and the fact that many people forget this.
