This whole book doesn't make sense. If they are to guard a person, why are they allowed to get drunk? Why don't they have a watch routine for the night? And if this is about keeping a bride to be in seclusion from everything frivolous, in a queer-normative society, why are people sharing a room? People who already have been flirting. If being queer is normal, what applies to man/woman should apply to woman/woman, too

Only on page 12 and already thinking about DNF-ing it. The choice of words is awful, changing between Shakespearian and modern language, mixed with slang that I've never heard of before. And yep, I admit, by the title I hoped it would be a bit mor T. Kingfisher-ish in plot and writing and ... it is really not, so far.
