This non-linear-narrative gimmick is a) irritating, b) pointless and - most damningly - c) not very Hartnell-era at all.
I agree with the Amazon reviewer, though, who writes that part of the fun is imagining how all this would be done on a Hartnell-era budget ('mostly via back projection and stock footage and men on wires'). The Hartnell era never lacked for ambition.

I spent the weekend watching the opening trilogy of 'Doctor Who' serials on DVD and, well, it's turned into sort of a kick.
Of course the fact that there's a sequel by the same writer with Steven Taylor - my secret 60s boyfriend - as the main character has nothing to do with this purchase.
