Keep forgetting I've not read all of this, then dip in and realise how much I enjoy Meades' gloriously, knowingly pompous style.

Dipping back in, and remembering how much I enjoy Meades' ability to continually surprise, provoke, and entertain - often on topics I know next to nothing about.

Skipped around, then started from the front. At once amusing and confusing in the depth of knowledge on display of obscure artists, architects, towns, villages, and vocabulary. Good stuff.
