It is interesting reading Merrill's discussion of truly loving your home. In a sense, loving your home is the only true love: they say to separate your love from the love you receive, and nothing does that more than objects that cannot love you back. I read a lot on the healing power of taking care of something, and never thought of home as fulfilling that like a plant or pet.

I've known Merrill to be naive from her YouTube channel, but her introduction re-enforces that, and I believe her assertions to be (understandably) wrong. While internal resources are inherently more stable (e.g. self-esteem) than external, I think her idea of home being inside you neglects the process of internalization: her cottage DID heal her, and now she can carry that elsewhere; she wouldn't have healed w/o it.
