This 2013 text would be a great bookclub selection. The author clearly has genuine and deep roots in the transformation of film and visual culture as it has morphed in recent decades.
What it lacks in nuanced applications of literacy, it makes up for in a discussion of how integral storytelling is to our human experience, and thus our search for connection and narrative.
