Ironically, I think I first read this decently close to fifteen and a half. Then, I was much more focused on the imagery, and how it seemed to spiral first, then into (created?) clarity. Now, age, mostly… It’s interesting how much time Duras spans, letting us see both the speaker’s grandfather and her son—and the type of perspective this range gives us on fifteen and a half.
