“The answer for much of history was derived from religion. We know because God says so, and God has moral authority. Even our suggestions today - murder, cheating, stealing - those first few all derive from the Ten Commandments. But in a secular world, where do we derive moral authority? Are morals just socially constructed or are there universal standards that exist independently of social mores?”
