“The Other House” and “The Spoils of Poynton” were somewhat slow reading. The author has a way of adding a lot of explanatory information between the subject and predicate of sentences which makes for a challenging read at times. I read somewhere that James and his psychiatrist brother were doing studies regarding attention spans. I think “What Maisie Knew” may have been a research vehicle for them.
