OK. Love the narrator and I can't wait for David to get eaten by a school of Nessies. Also, why is Brandy so foolish? I don't blame her for being angry with Zachary, but c'mon... David is a jerk. He literally exploited his way into her panties and she isn't cutting his cojones off?

I'm still loving the book as a whole, but seriously. The "romance" angle in this could and should have been left out entirely. It's also a bit frustrating that just about every female character in the book is written as more of an adversary than anything else, like their main purpose is to be as difficult as possible. Someone said that Brandy and Zach act more like high school or middle schoolers flirting. Accurate.

#ReadAllTheBooks For those wondering:

David is Zachary's unethical former boss who likes taking credit for other people's stuff and exploiting everything and everyone. He also needs a ship to tool around in. He cozies up to Brandy because she has a ship (despite there being better ones) she's hot, something he figures will look good on camera if he finds Nessie. Well, that and he wants in her panties.

At one point Zachary overhears her ask him to slow down and David actually pressures her into giving in by threatening to go with other boats. She's absolutely a victim in this and she's likely choosing him because of her past abuse, but you'd think she'd have recognized it. Especially after she cut Zachary off so quickly. Not that he didn't deserve it, but he acted that way because of his PTSD, something that eventually becomes public knowledge and something she should have taken into consideration considering she also has PTSD from her ex husband.

I figure that all of this will be worked out because well, it's not the type of book where the bad guy gets the girl at the end, but I have a feeling that she's just going to frustrate me even more. I would have much preferred her to kick David where the sun doesn't shine and for David to instead choose someone else. It's irritating that there aren't many women characters here with substantial screentime and of the ones so far (about 3, if you include the museum researcher), two are completely infuriating.

But damn if I don't love this book still.
