every time i close this book i am increasingly disturbed by how awful the paperback cover is. love the bird! but the figures… oof.

it’s very simplistically nostalgic in ways that remind me of spiderwick, wildwood, and fantasy middle grade books in general. but then it’s also surprisingly complex and begging to break the young adult boundaries? like let them say the f word(s)! please!
