That feeling when you really hone in on reading as escapism. It always is escapism — but at least personally, there are times when I really lean into it intentionally as escapism rather than just something fun that helps me unwind. Usually when life is overwhelming.

i totally agree!! usually for fantasy books with me because they’re so consuming but it totally depends lol

Agreed. Fantasy or YA when I really just need to disappear. 😅 Or a really absorbing mystery series like Louise Penny’s Inspector Gamache or the Flavia de Luce series. Ones that aren’t hard to read and that spirit me away.
