I'm trying, really trying, but it's difficult. What kind of "community" is this? A town? A city? Big enough to have a Sheriff [sic] with 3 deputies? Taxing authority to pay 'em? Hardly a "cozy" mystery; more like a goofy, nonsensical one. And how does anyone even know this death was a murder yet? No autopsy? No nothing? This is . . . dumb. Help!

I've read the first 3 chapters three times. None of what I've read makes sense. Setting is in the morning, after 7 a.m. People in coffee shop, long enough for three cups. Body found at 7 a.m. but no one knows about it? Person who found body just walks in and announces it, but after notifying Sheriff? I'm really trying to like this, or at least keep reading, but it's making no sense whatsoever.

I guess good writing no longer counts. As in properly attributing dialogue. I want to read this book, not just skim for the basic story, which may or may not be any good. Half the time I have to read everything two or three times just to figure out who's talking because the speech tags are in the wrong place. And they're over-done. Why?????
