The intricate way that each individual is affected by Mo-Maw’s lack of parenting is so effective. It gives me Shameless, the television show, vibes where everyone is affected by the trauma inflicted by their parents and have distinct personalities yet pose realistic relationships between siblings. This book is tragic and sinister at times but that is cut through the hope and innocence curated by James and Mungo.

Liking this book more than Shuggie Bain. You can tell that Douglas Stuart has definitely improved his creative skill by cutting back the fluff that Shuggie Bain had. Trying not to compare but the characters seem significantly more fleshed out.

Overall, really enjoying it.
