Oh look, I turn the page and the set-up for this novel starts screams implausibility (what kids home would willingly deny use of the internet for homework purposes? That's what blocks are for if internet privileges are being denied for punishment. It works in every other school, prison and place of work...). This is not a good sign.

This is reaching the tipping point faster than I expected. In the main characters timeline her parents have been dead barely 2 months, her entire life imploded, and now she's on an entirely different world. Yet instead of being grief stricken she's noticing how cute boys are and documenting how many blow-dryers there are at this raw colony. Seriously? Who supplies 70 tons of cosmetics and blow-dryers instead of food?

Hmm, thinking this may end in a DNF due to being too YA for me (blurb indicates possible love triangle, beginning has lots of whining and backstabbing rich high school "friends"). We'll see how it goes though.
