Yaqing Qin takes exception with the prevailing paradigm in the study of international relations (IR) as being derived from Western cultures and lacking the perspective provided by other cultural worldviews. I am not unsympathetic with this analysis of IR, however I suspect Professor Qin would give Bill and Ted a B- on their report because it included only one representative of a non-Western culture.

The author is proposing that existence and coexistence occur simultaneously with neither preceding the other. I have no problem accepting this premise, but surely there are more pressing matters in the field of international relations to address.
