An audiobook received from Audible at no cost for subscribers. Pleasant narration, good for bedtime. An American Civil War doctor inherits an English estate he's never been to before. The servants there keep calling him, "My Lord," which he finds a bit disconcerting.

The writing is a bit stilted and predictable... and the reader is a perfect match. Stilted. She doesn't show much emotion! However there's a good Christian message and I can understand how the main characters are imprisoned by their feelings of shame over sins of the past. The book is good for a few days diversion. I'm sure I won't regret reading it.

Audiobook. Historic fiction - mid-1800's after the Civil War - an American doctor inherits a Lordship and estate in England. The reader is so prim and proper she almost sounds like automated speech, but with an English accent. I wasn't happy to read the doctor's description of his work at a Civil War field hospital. Could have lived without that forever.
