I just don't have the memory to remember details from book one to book two. That being said, I think if I was a kid zoom-zooming through all the books (once they are all published) I don't think that would be an issue reading them back-to-back-to-back. Sometimes it takes a while for me to warm up to fantasy--in terms of world-building--and this isn't quite working for me. But I think it's a me problem.
